A Labrador pumpkin stencil lives or dies on two shapes: the broad, flat skull and the soft ears that fold close to the cheeks. Upload a photo of your Lab, let AI likeness turn it into carving shapes, and print a PDF sized for your pumpkin. Black, yellow and chocolate Labs all work.

What makes a Labrador Retriever stencil look like a Labrador Retriever
Labs have a wide head, a straight muzzle and an otter-like thickness through the neck, so the outline alone already says Labrador. The ears hang flat and close, which means they should be carved as one solid piece instead of a fringe of fur. Inside the face, the eyes sit wide apart under a gentle brow and the nose is large and square.
Because Lab coats are short and even, there is little fur texture to carve. The likeness comes from the shadow under the brow, the line of the mouth and the highlight on the nose. On a black Lab, the AI version draws those few lines with thicker skin between them so the face does not turn into a dark blob.
Photo tips for a Labrador Retriever stencil
- Black Labs: shoot outdoors in open shade, not in direct sun, so the eyes do not disappear into the coat.
- Yellow Labs: a slightly darker background (a fence, a door) gives the light coat a clear edge.
- Ask for a head tilt toward the camera; a straight-on Lab face can look flat once carved.
Carving a Labrador Retriever pumpkin
- Cut the nose and the eye shadows first, while the pumpkin wall is still strong.
- Keep each ear as one opening with a smooth edge; Labs read best with simple ears.
- A round, wide pumpkin matches the broad head better than a tall one.
Frequently asked questions
Will a black Lab photo work for a pumpkin stencil?
Yes, with AI likeness. Classic mode often turns a black coat into one dark shape, while AI likeness redraws the eyes, brow and mouth as separate carving lines.
Which difficulty suits a Labrador stencil?
Medium. Labs have few fine details, so Medium keeps the eyes and nose crisp without adding fur strands you would have to carve.
Can I carve two Labs on one pumpkin?
Make each stencil separately, print both at the Small size and place them side by side on a large pumpkin, leaving at least 2 cm of skin between them.
