About these ghost stencils
Ghosts are the easiest Halloween shape to carve well. The body is one big rounded cut, so even a first-time carver gets a bright, clean glow. The detail lives in the eyes and mouth, which on our stencils stay connected to the rest of the skin with bridges.
For a classic look, carve the ghost as the glowing shape. For a moody porch, flip it in the stencil maker so the background glows and the ghost stays dark.

How to carve a ghost pumpkin
- Pick a design and download the PDF in the size that matches the flattest face of your pumpkin.
- Cut a lid or a hole in the back, scoop out the pulp and thin the front wall to about 1 inch so the light shines through.
- Tape the stencil flat, poke along every line about 3 mm apart, then peel the paper off.
- Cut out the black shapes with a small saw, smallest pieces first, and keep every white bridge.
- Light it with an LED and clean up any edges that block the glow.
Carving tips
- Cut the eyes and mouth first, then the outline.
- Smooth the wavy bottom edge with short saw strokes.
- Ghosts look best on tall pumpkins; scale the PDF to large.
