AI likenessAbout these scary stencils
Scary designs rely on contrast: big dark areas of skin with sharp, jagged openings. Teeth, claws and narrowed eyes read clearly from the street, so even a medium-level design looks dramatic.
Want something scarier? Try the evil grin face from our pumpkin face stencils, or shade the darker parts with the 3-tone technique.

How to carve a scary pumpkin
- Pick a design and download the PDF in the size that matches the flattest face of your pumpkin.
- Cut a lid or a hole in the back, scoop out the pulp and thin the front wall to about 1 inch so the light shines through.
- Tape the stencil flat, poke along every line about 3 mm apart, then peel the paper off.
- Cut out the black shapes with a small saw, smallest pieces first, and keep every white bridge.
- Light it with an LED and clean up any edges that block the glow.
Carving tips
- Use a bright LED so jagged teeth cast sharp shadows.
- Carve on a dark, warty pumpkin for extra texture.
- Leave thicker bridges on claws and teeth; they break first.
