Each eye has a pupil, and pupils are islands, so this design carries two bridges that hold them in place. They are sized at 4 mm or more for the pumpkin size you print, which is wide enough to stay put if you cut gently.
Tips for this design
- Do not cut through the pupil bridges, even if they look thin on paper.
- An apple corer makes a perfectly round mouth.
- Place the eyes high on the pumpkin for a more startled look.
Carving the surprised pumpkin face stencil
The two pupils are the only floating pieces and each is held by a bridge. Mark the bridges on the pumpkin with a poker before cutting so you do not saw through them by accident. Cut the outer oval of each eye in two halves, stopping at the bridge on each side, then the round mouth last.
